Jared Campbell

My name is Jared Campbell, and I have learned firsthand that the decisions you make today will shape the rest of your life.
I was raised in a loving home by parents who never raised their voices at one another. I was active in scouting, did well in school, and had every reason to believe my future was bright. At age twelve, I moved from small-town Vernal, Utah to California. In an effort to fit in, I began making compromises I knew were not right, choices I believed would earn me acceptance and friends.
What began as heavy partying in high school quickly turned into addiction as soon as I was out. I found myself in and out of jail on drug charges and DUIs, using substances as my primary coping mechanism whenever life became difficult.
After a life-changing incident, instead of showing up for my three children when they needed me most, I ran. I abandoned everything familiar for the streets of Los Angeles and Las Vegas, where I spent two years homeless and lost.
Eventually, I found my way to The Other Side Academy, a place that helped me rebuild not just my life but my sense of self. Today, I have the privilege of helping others do the same, and I realize that the decisions I make today not only shape the rest of my life, but the lives of others as well.
